Case Study and Article: November and December.
Hey Everyone! I am a high schooler interested in biology, genetics, nutrition and cancer. I am researching nutrition and its impact on health -- specifically cancer progression and initiation!
Article
In December I wrote a few articles, one of which was about the connection between the gut microbiome and colorectal cancer.
The human gut microbiome is a complex ecosystem of microorganisms, including bacteria, viruses, fungi, and protozoa, containing over 3 million genes — 150 times more than the human genome. The are many gut axes ranging from the gut-brain and gut-lung. Below is a picture of all the different gut axes.
Specifically in colorectal cancer, In colorectal cancer (CRC), dysbiosis promotes inflammation and alters signalling pathways, weakening immune responses and reducing the effectiveness of treatments like chemotherapy and immunotherapy. Specific bacteria like Fusobacterium nucleatum, E. coli, Bacteroides fragilis, and Streptococcus bovis are associated with CRC progression and can serve as biomarkers. To help modulate the gut microbiome there are a few ways: probiotics, prebiotics and FMT which help treat colorectal cancer. Check out more here!
Soko Case Study
Within TKS activate, we looked into the MIT Soko Case Study. We had to act as CEO and find a method to scale the company while considering the data. As always I learned a lot, learned lots of important real-world skills and looking forward to doing more.
Accelerate
In TKS activate, there is also another program within it called Accelerate. In Accelerate we have a squad group of 4 people and keep each other accountable. Furthermore, we have a mentor, tasks and make goals for each month. My mentor is Latif Nanji, the Co-Founder and CEO of Roadmunk Saas platform. I want to thank him for all his advice and mentorship!
